Mythology of Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganeshji giving Ashirwad

Mythology

Centuries ago during a war between the Gods and the Demons, Lord Shiva was away for a long time. His wife, Goddess Parvati, afraid of being alone for an extended period used her divine powers and created a son, Ganesh, and gave him the responsibility of protecting the house. When Lord Shiva and his army, returned victorious to his home, Parvati was in her bath, and Ganesh had been strictly instructed not to allow anyone in. Angered by Ganesh’s refusal to allow him in to the house, Lord Shiva and his army chopped off the boy’s head. When Parvati came out of her bath, she was shocked and grieved to see her son dead. Lord Shiva, to pacify, her proclaimed that the head of Ganesh would be replaced by that of the first creature that came up the hill. As luck would have it the first visitor to the hill was an elephant and his head was promptly cut off and placed on that of Lord Ganesh, and
life was restored to the son of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati. To pacify his wife further and compensate for the act of killings own son, Lord Shiva bestowed upon Ganesh the powers of a God and blessed him that henceforth no activity will begin without invoking your name and blessings. Since then, it is said, no new venture - the inauguration of accompany, the opening of a shop, the foundation of a building, entering a new home - is deemed complete by Hindus without a Ganesh puja.
Ancient Hindu
texts are filled with tales about Lord Ganesh, his powers, wisdom and goodness, one of the most delightful being the one about a contest between him and his brother, Kartikeya. Kartikeya was very proud of his mount, the peacock, and his own speed and efficiency, challenged lord Ganesh to a race around the world 7 times. While Kartikeya made a tour of the world thrice, Ganesh just encircled lord Shiva and goddess Parvati, his parents 7 times, and claimed victory. The story is often related to inculcate in children the importance of God and their parents.

What Is I'm Feeling Lucky Button in Google

http://www.brianklug.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/Huh-whut.png
Daily most of the  Traffic Passes through only google,
We cant imagine Internet without google..
We used to search many items in google by pressing Search Button in Google, But Besides that there is another Button Named " i'm Feeling Lucky"
How Many of you know The purpose of this Button??

Those Who Dont know about it can click below

One of the most notable objects on the Google Web search is the I'm Feeling Lucky button.

The button may have been named as a play on the Clint Eastwood line in the movie Dirty Harry.

"Do you feel lucky, punk? Well, do you?"

Ordinarily when you type in a key phrase in a Google search, you press the search button, (you can also just press return or enter on your keyboard) and Google

returns a results page that shows multiple Web sites matching your search phrase. The I'm Feeling Lucky button skips the search results page and goes

directly to the first ranked page for that search phrase.

If you type "white house" in the search box and press I'm Feeling Lucky, you'll go straight to www.whitehouse.gov. If you type "apple" into the search box and

press I'm Feeling Lucky, you'll go directly to Apple Computer's Web site. Depending on your search query, the first result is usually the very best guess, so

hitting the I'm Feeling Lucky button saves you a few extra seconds parsing through the list of search results.

I'm Feeling Lucky is handy if you're fairly confident that the first result in the search engine is going to be exactly the page you want to find, but not so handy if

you know you're going to be looking at a lot of sites. Using the I'm Feeling Lucky button is also a common way for people to point out Google bombs. It adds an

element of surprise to the joke, but it only works if the Google Bomb is the very first result.
Lucky Button Without a Search

In December 2009, pressing the I'm Feeling Lucky button without putting anything in the search box yielded a countdown ticker to New Year's day. Pressing the

I'm Feelinng Lucky button in 2011 gives you an explanation for I'm Feeling Lucky search, but if you've enabled Google Instant, it leads you to the Google

Doodles page, where alternative Google logos are displayed.

Lucky in Other Google Tools

Google Toolbar has an I'm Feeling Lucky search built in, which works the same way as the regular Google search.

Picasa also has an I'm Feeling Lucky button, but in Picasa's case, the button automatically applies enhancement filters and adjustments to an image.
I'm Feeling Lucky and Google Instant

When you're using Google Instant, the I'm Feeling Lucky button disappears as soon as you start typing. You could turn off  Google Instant through your Google

Account preferences, but where's the fun in that?

You can still use the I'm Feeling Lucky function with Google Instant by hovering your cursor over a prediction. Instead of a button, you'll see an I'm Feeling

Lucky link to the right of the prediction. If you're feeling extra efficient, you can also navigate by using your arrow key. Press the down arrow to scroll through

suggestions, and then press the right arrow if you feel lucky.

History of Friendship Day

Click to get the codes for this image. Beautiful graphic of a pink flower reflected in an animated pool. The comment reads: Happy Friendship Day!
The tradition of celebrating Friendship Day began in 1935 when the US Congress decided to dedicate a day in the honor of friends.

Though it is not known exactly what were the
reasons that went into the making of this day,
the retrospection of the world scenario of those timescan lead us to an understanding.

With the devastating effects of the First World War still showing and increasing hostilities, mistrust andhatred between countries providing the perfect conditionsfor another imminent battle, there was a greater needfor friendship and camaraderie not only among nations but also among individuals.

Hence, the US Congress decided to designate the
first Sunday of the month of August as Friendship Dayand with a formal proclamation in 1935, officiallydeclared the occasion a holiday dedicated in the honour of friends and friendship.
Since then, celebration of National Friendship Day became an annual event. The lofty idea of honoring the beautiful relationship of friendship caught on with the people, particularly the youngsters all over the country, and in no time Friendship Day became a highly popular festival.

But the success of this wonderful occasion was not
to be limited to the US alone.
With time, several other countries followed suit
in adopting the tradition of dedicating a day to the cause of friendship.
The beautiful idea of having a day in the honor of friends was joyously taken over by several other countries across the world.
With more and more nations joining in the celebrations, Friendship Day soon became
Click to get the codes for this image. This beautiful graphic shows a red roser reflected in an animated pool. International FriendshipDay
Today, Friendship Day is enthusiastically celebrated
every year by many countries.
The occasion is observed on the first Sundayin August.
The traditional celebrations include meeting with friends and exchanging of cards, flower and gifts Many social and cultural organizations also celebrate Friendship Day by hosting programs and get togethers.
Special performances by rock bands are also organized in countries like the US to enhance the jubilations.

In 1997, the United Nations named Winnie the Pooh,
the famous cartoon character as the world’s Ambassador ofFriendship.
Cool Entertainment Only On Sweet Angel –Join US
It is interesting to note how some associations observe Friendship Day with different customs, by giving the festival different names and holding it in times unlike that of the actual festival.
For example, National Friendship Day is held on the first Sunday in August; Women’s Friendship Day is on the third Sunday in August; the third week of May is the old friends, New Friends Week and the whole of February  is designated as the International Friendship Month.

These days, Friendship Day is celebrated with a lot of
funfare and great expenses. Just as in US and several other countries, the festival has been greatly commercialized.

Days before the festival, card and gift companies

launch an extensive campaign to lure people into buying cards and gift items for their friends.
Companies indulge in aggressive marketing to target youngsters, the main celebrators of festivals as these, and entice them into purchasing expensive articles for their pals. Restaurateurs too offer special discounts to make the most of the time.
This marketing strategy has been severely criticized by many people and is a subject of debate every year.
Many feel that such rampant commercialization has marred the very concept of Friendship Day and has turned it into a mere formality.
Many on the other hand think that greater hype and hoopla around the occasion has helped to generate awareness about Friendship Day festival which was till recently a low-key affair (compared to occasions as
 ”Mother’s day” and “Father’s Day“)
and thus promote friendship and brotherhood.
The popular customs of Friendship Day includes handing over roses, especially the pink and yellow ones.
The day is observed with great exhilaration and merriment, with friends throwing parties, gorging on lip-smacking dishes and drinking hard (be it at home or at restaurants that offer special discounts for this occasion).

A highly popular thing associated with the day is the

well-known Friendship Band - the modern day token of friendship that friends gift to one another to form an everlasting bond.
Friendship bands are favorite items for youngsters and are available in stores all over the country.
Girls go in for friendship bracelets instead of the conventional friendship wristbands.
Friendship Poems and Friendship Day Gifts are exchanged between best friends to renew the bond offriendship and express gratitude and love for each other.
These are new ways of celebration of this day that the GenX has invented.

Since its inception in 1935, Friendship Day and
Friendship Day celebrations have come a long way.
But however much the ways of celebration have changed, the basic idea behind the occasion remains the same.
Friendship Day remains the time when you acknowledge your friends’ contribution in your life, express love
for them, cherish their presence in your life and pay them a tribute.

Today, Friendship Day is being celebrated around

the globe, across diverse cultures and social segments.
